I thought that would be an appropriate title to today’s thought of the day. From personal experience I can testify that this is more then true. Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Remember the movie Aladdin with Robin Williams playing the Genie? That movie came out in 1992 and I found myself imagining what I would do with 3 wishes over the years. Obviously there are no Genie’s in life, which is a good thing. The movie showed what could happen when it fell into the wrong hands. We have something far better than any Genie could temporarily give us. We have a living breathing Father in Heaven watching over us, and is looking for ways to bless His children. We just need to ask and depend on Him to take care of us. It still amazes me that our God knows us better then we know ourselves. We keep things hidden from others, but nothing escapes God’s notice. He hears each thought that would otherwise go unsaid around others. Whether it’s a form of prayer or something on our minds, the Lord knows about it.
Maybe your single and looking to meet that special person and settle down. Or like most of us once you marry, you may want to start a family. Whatever is in our hearts, we are told here that the Lord will give us what we desire. But we must put God first in our lives in order for that to happen. God should be our first love. Really God should be first in everything. That means total dependence on Jesus Christ. He knows best, so it’s a good practice to consult him first in all things.
God very much wants us to include Him in our daily lives. Being human most of us at some point try and do things in our own power and strength. How frustrating that can be! We can never really see the big picture and how our lives will turn out. The uncertainty of life should leave us wanting to be relying on Him alone.
Here is an old proverb that I memorized as a child at summer camp. It was helpful back then, just as it gives me comfort today. Proverbs 3:5,6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Very nice comment of the day. Good reminder for us to put the Lord first in everything and all else will take its place in due time. God Bless
