The Dark Angel

Ephesians 6:12  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

This is rare for me to even write about the darker side of our one common enemy. I felt the need to write an article on the all too real dangers lying in wait for anyone unaware.  Everyone needs to be reminded from time to time about just how much the devil pursues us.  We learn in the first book of the Bible why Satan hates us to much.  It is because we were created in the image of God.  Satan knows how much God loves us, and therefore he is on a mission to take away what God loves by any means necessary.  1 Peter 5:8  Be self-controlled and alert.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

He goes by many names but his angelic name God gave him was Lucifer out of Isaiah 14:12.  The Hebrew translation for “morning star” is Lucifer.  Most people don’t take this enemy too serious either.  The entertainment world has been fixated on the supernatural for the last decade, more so in the last few years.  No one is taking anything away from these films other than a thrill and a distorted view of the underworld.  Most Christains don’t support these films because anyone that has the Holy Spirit living within them recognizes evil onsite.

The evil one does so much of his work in religious atmospheres.  Galatians 1:8  But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned.

Twice in Revelation there are references to the “synagogue of Satan” (Rev 2:9, 3:9).  In these current times it seems just about anything goes.  Some strong words come out of 1 Timothy 4:1,2  The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.  Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

When Paul was writing to the church in Corinth he cautioned them on the dangers of these hidden demons lurking in churches.  We certainly can apply that today with the numerous church denominations.  Division in these works is not by accident.  1 Corinthians 10:20,21  No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons.  You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too;  you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons.  11 Corinthians 4:4  The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.  11 Corinthians 11:14,15  And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.  It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness.  Their end will be what their actions deserve.

Maybe a bigger picture of  just how effective Lucifer works his wonders is in order.  We cannot underestimate the lengths Satan and his followers will go to in order to lead believers astray.  Dr. David Jeremiah recently had a TV broadcast that shared an image we could picture of how Satan operates.  Try and place in your mind a picture of the Devil holding a convention for his fallen angels.  Satan is giving pointers for his demons, and the new ways to keep believers from sharing the joys of the word of God.   Satan is desperate to destroy as many lives as possible because his time is short (Revelation 12:12).  These 12 points should be shared with others to help open our eyes of ways the evil one can effect our lives.

BUSY – Being Under Satan’s Yoke

1. Keep them busy with non-essentials
2. Tempt them to overspend and go into debt
3. Make them work long hours to maintain empty lifestyles
4. Discourage them from spending family time, for when homes disintegrate there’s no refuge from work.
5. Overstimulate their minds with television and computers so they cannot hear God speaking to them.
6. Fill the coffee table and nightstands with newspapers and magazines so they have no time for Bible reading.
7. Flood their mailboxes with sweepstakes, promotions and get rich quick schemes; keep them chasing material things
8. Put glamorous models on TV and on magazine covers to keep focused on outward appearances; that way they’ll be dissatisfied with themselves and their mates.
9. Make sure couples are too exhausted for physical intimacy; that way they’ll be tempted to look elsewhere.
10. Emphasize Santa and the Easter Bunny; that way you will divert them from the real meaning of the holidays.
11. Involve them in good causes so that won’t have time for the eternal ones.
12. Make them self-sufficient. Keeping them so busy working in their own strength they’ll never know the joy of God’s power working through them.

How deceptive these tactics are.  As long as you have breath in your body we are sought after to be distracted from the truth.  John 8:44  You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire.  He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.  When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

So many people have fallen for and continue to fall for the devils appealing bait.  Don’t let the enemy unknowingly into your life.  “The devil made me do it”, just doesn’t cut it with God.  We all are accountable and have the ability to choose.  Pray for help in areas where you are vulnerable to sin.  James 4:7  Submit yourselves, then to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

John’s revelation shows us that the enemy eventually will be held accountable and judged for everything he has done.  When God decides it is time he will put a stop to Satan’s rule for good.  One thing that maybe some people don’t know is that our Heavenly Father never created the awful place of punishment for humans.  He made it for Satan and his followers.  Matthew 25:41  “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.’ “

Here are Jesus’ words giving the analogy of the shepherd and his flock.  Jesus never minced words when He warned us about how the devil is after our souls.  John 10:10  “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;  I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

It is so easy to become complacent in our Christian lives.  We don’t often see evidence of the devil attacking us because we’re not looking for it.  If we have a weakness be sure that Satan will find out about it somehow.  The devil is not all knowing, but he very well can put ideas and thoughts in our minds to trouble us.  Pray for strength from your Heavenly Father to avoid those flaming arrows shot our way.  Ephesians 6 expands on living a Holy life by putting on the Armor of God.

  2. Thank you Judi. Questioned if I would put something of this nature on my site…but kind of glad I did. Need to take more caution these days…too easy to let him win.
